Pesto Rosso

Bertolli Pesto Rosso is a delightful sauce made with sun-dried tomatoes, Italian cheeses and olive oil. Use this pesto in marinades, dressings, as a spread on bread or in a delicious pasta dish to do full justice to its flavours.

Pesto comes from the word ‘pestare’, which means to pound or crush. It refers to the traditional method of crushing the pesto with a pestle, in other words, ‘pounded with a pestle’. Nowadays, we can use a kitchen machine to help us, but if you have the time to make pesto yourself, use a mortar and pestle to make it more aromatic.

Bertolli was founded in Lucca, Tuscany, in 1865. Francesco Bertolli and his wife, Caterina, started a small delicatessen business, which led to the export of Italian products to Italian migrants all over the world. To this day, it is Bertolli’s ambition to make the very best of authentic, straightforward and delicious Italian cuisine available to everyone.
