    WHERE CAN I FIND A LIST OF PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT CONTAIN ALLERGENS?

    We are sorry to say that we do not have a list of products that do not contain a certain allergen, as such lists are soon obsolete. Please refer to the allergen information on our packaging. If any of the 14 allergens we must list by law are used as an ingredient in the product, they will be mentioned in the ingredients declaration on the packet. The law requires us to list the following allergens: cereals containing gluten, chicken egg, fish, peanut, nuts, soy, milk, including lactose, shellfish, molluscs, celery, mustard, sesame seed, sulphite and lupin. Bertolli also opts for mentioning these 14 allergens if traces are, or might be, present in a product. We use the phrase ‘may contain traces of…’ to make this clear. If an allergen is not listed on the packet, the allergen is not in the product in question.

    WHY ARE ALLERGENS LISTED ON THE PACKETS?

    Allergenicity is covered by European legislation. People can be allergic to egg whites in particular. The EU has stipulated the allergens that must be listed explicitly on the packaging, as those particular ones can cause people to have extremely serious reactions.

    Does Bertolli contain any secret ingredients?
    All the ingredients we use are listed on the packet. If herbs or spices are mentioned on the packet, they are always the genuine herbs or spices. We want to keep the exact proportions under our hat… But we never use those names to refer to aromas or flavour enhancers.

    CAN A BERTOLLI PRODUCT STILL BE USED IF IT IS PAST ITS USE-BY DATE?

    Bertolli products comply with our stringent quality standards until the use-by date. After that date, we cannot guarantee the quality of the product.

    I can’t find product X in my local supermarket. What can I do?

    If your favourite supermarket doesn’t sell the Bertolli product you are looking for yet, ask at the customer service desk or write to the head office of that supermarket chain to see whether they might include it in their range. Generally speaking, email is the best way to get in touch with the head office. The supermarket chain in question will give the address on the website. Bertolli supplies practically all Dutch supermarkets and should be able to supply your supermarket too.
